Private/Sport
Pilot Lessons
Intro
I have decided to post my
lesson plans online so that you can do a little preparation before
the lessons.
Most of them will be dry and
will only have the desired outcome for the lesson, and any required
materials. I chose to do it this way because most of you already have
a text book of some sorts, and you will be able to refer to those for
additional information.
In each lesson plan, there
will be a list of chapters that are required reading, the ground
lesson, and any paper work that must be completed before our meeting
at the airport. The more you study on your own, the shorter our
ground lessons will be.
Prior to starting class, you
should already have an FAA Medical Certificate. It's better to find
out that you have a problem that will prevent you from being able to
fly before you spend allot of money on flying lessons, only to be
denied a medical. Choose first class if you plan on working in
aviation, or third class if you just want your pilots license for
personal reasons. If you would like to get your sport pilot license,
you no longer need a medical. A drivers license will satisfy that
requirement. Click the link below to find a medical examiner.
You should also be ready to
take your written test. There are two ways you can study for it. You
can use a book like The
Private Pilot Test Prep 2012, or you can purchase DVDs.
I have tried both and have had success with both. The questions in
the book are identical to the actual test questions that you will see
on the exam. If you can watch a video and retain everything, then you
could potentially watch the DVDs
one weekend, and take the test on Monday. Whichever way you choose,
it won't be difficult, but you definitely want to have this completed
before you get to far into training.
Feel free to comment here so that others may benefit from your experiences.
